René Mouawad Sanayeh Garden.

Our renovation of the René Mouawad Sanayeh Garden has restored a genuine treasure to the heart of Beirut.
Reviving the heart of Beirut.
The Azadea Foundation set aside $2.5 million to restore the historic garden, which had fallen into severe disrepair over the years. All told, we added three secure playgrounds, 800 trees of eight different species, and 11,000 square meters of grassy area. The renovation also included the spectacular Central Fountain, new jogging and cycling paths, an amphitheater, and exhibition and reading areas.
Protecting the future.
More than 22,000 visitors attended the Grand Opening in May-June 2014, and as many 11,000 have been back every weekend since. Today the site – now Beirut’s largest functioning public green space – has been fully reclaimed by its rightful owners, the people of Lebanon. And to keep it that way, the Azadea Foundation has earmarked a special budget to maintain the Garden for at least a decade.
